Objectives at Artpace, San Antonio, TX
This exhibition presents new work by three artists, Jessica Halonen, Ryder Richards, and Kamila Szczesna, selected from Artpace’s Texas Open Call by guest curator Denise Markonish (MASS MoCA) and curated by Taylor Bates, Artpace Director of Programs & Exhibitions.
“Complimenting the fall 2016 artists-in-residence, Objectives is on view in the Hudson Showroom, featuring: Jessica Halonen (Austin), Ryder Richards (Dallas), and Kamila Szczesna (Galveston). Each of these artists engages with material and process, creating works that reference the legacy of minimalism. Halonen’s intimate gestures and found objects, Richard’s industrial materials and performative gestures, and Szczesna’s bodily abstractions continue the conversations at Artpace this fall about process and the malleability of sculpture.” –Denise Markonish
